At What's Your Beat, I'm committed to protecting the personal and emotional stories you trust me with. This policy explains what I collect, how I use it, and how I keep it safe.

Bottom line: I collect minimal data, keep it confidential, encrypt it, and never share it without your permission.

What I Collect

Story submissions: Your email, occasion, personal stories, and song preferences from your request
Contact info: Email address used for requests and donations
Minimal analytics: Anonymized site usage data (pages visited, device type)
Cookies: Used to improve your experience — no personal tracking

I do not require accounts or passwords — no unnecessary data collection.

How I Use Your Information

Process your song request and deliver your audio
Communicate with you about your order
Improve the service based on feedback

That's it. I don't use your stories for marketing, profiling, or anything else without your explicit permission.

Streaming release note: If you choose to release your song to streaming platforms, it becomes publicly available under What's Your Beat. I may share or promote that song on social media or in other places — but only what's already in the public release. Nothing from your personal submission will ever appear beyond what's in the song itself.

How I Protect Your Data

All sensitive data is encrypted at rest and in transit
Your stories remain confidential unless you consent to sharing (e.g., submitting the song to streaming services)
Third-party access only when essential (payment processors and anonymized analytics)
Song generation is handled using trusted AI music tools — your story details are used solely to craft your song and are not stored or used by those tools beyond that purpose

Your story is between you and me. Period.

Data Retention and Deletion

I keep your information only as long as needed to fulfill your request. You can request deletion at any time.

Children and International Visitors

Children: I don't knowingly collect data from users under 16 without verifiable parental consent.

International visitors: If you're outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and stored in Canada in accordance with Canadian law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

I may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after updates means you accept the revised policy.
