At What's Your Beat, Richard is committed to protecting the personal and emotional stories you trust him with. This policy explains what is collected, how it's used, and how it's kept safe.

The short version: Minimal data is collected, it stays confidential, it's encrypted, and it's never shared without your permission.

What Is Collected

Story submissions: Your email, occasion, personal stories, and song preferences from your commission request
Contact info: Email address used for commission requests and payment processing
Minimal analytics: Anonymized site usage data (pages visited, device type)
Cookies: Used to improve your experience — no personal tracking

No accounts or passwords are required — no unnecessary data is collected.

How Your Information Is Used

Process your commission and deliver your song via your private access code
Communicate with you about your order
Improve the service based on feedback

That's it. Your stories are never used for marketing, profiling, or anything else without your explicit permission.

Streaming release note: If you choose the Streaming Submission add-on, your song becomes publicly available under What's Your Beat. Richard may share or promote that song on social media — but only what's already in the public release. Nothing from your personal submission will ever appear beyond what's in the song itself.

How Your Data Is Protected

All sensitive data is encrypted at rest and in transit
Your stories remain confidential unless you consent to sharing (e.g., adding the Streaming Submission add-on)
Third-party access only when essential — payment processors and anonymized analytics
Song creation uses trusted AI music tools. Your story details are used solely to craft your song and are not stored or used by those tools beyond that purpose

Your story is between you and Richard. Period.

Data Retention and Deletion

Information is kept only as long as needed to fulfill your commission. You can request deletion at any time.

Delete your data at any time
Withdraw consent for your story to be used in samples or previews
Request a summary of what information is stored about you

Children and International Visitors

Children: Data is not knowingly collected from users under 16 without verifiable parental consent.

International visitors: If you're outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and stored in Canada in accordance with Canadian law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Policy Updates

This policy may be updated from time to time. Significant changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after updates means you accept the revised policy.
